“America’s Response to Global Instability” is focus of conversation with former United States Secretary of Defense, William S. Cohen; Gen. Joseph W. Ralston, ret.; and Ambassador Nicholas Burns
Portland, Maine | October 26, 2015 – The Knight Canney Group, a Portland, Maine-based public relations firm announced today that its president, Felicia K. Knight, will moderate the latest installation of the William S. Cohen Lecture Series, taking place tomorrow (October 27, 2015 11:00 a.m.) at the Collins Center for the Arts in Orono, Maine.
Titled, “America’s Response to Global Instability,” the event will feature, as always, Former United States Defense Secretary William S. Cohen, along with two guests: Gen. Joseph Ralston, former Supreme Allied Commander in Europe and Ambassador Nicholas Burns, former Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs and former United States Ambassador to Greece.
“Given current world events—an emboldened Russia; continued, escalating violence and terrorism in the Middle East and the concurrent immigration crisis in Europe; the financial instability in Greece; to say nothing of our own dysfunctional Congress—these three leaders should be able to provide us with compelling insights into what scenarios are taken into account when decisions are made that dictate America’s response to global instability,” said Knight, a former award winning broadcast journalist. “I’m eager to delve into these topics with people who’ve had a window on American foreign policy.”
Knight, who co-founded The Knight Canney Group with Crystal Canney, is a resident of Scarborough.
The 11 a.m. event, the 10th in the William S. Cohen Lecture Series presented by the University of Maine’s Cohen Institute for Leadership and Public Service, is free and open to the public.
